Offering In-Person Instruction
Hey! I’m Mike Iverson, a teacher at Heid Music’s Appleton location. I’ve been teaching music for 25 years, aiming to maintain a studio based on respect, positivity, and the joy of playing - not expectation or stress. I try my best to keep the mood calm and casual, always attempting to create a safe place for my students to be themselves, which I feel to be important because learning music requires lots of mistakes along the path to confidence.
Over the years, I’ve studied music at UW Green Bay and UW Oshkosh, learned multiple ways of teaching, and picked up how to recognize and adjust for different styles of learning. I’ve also learned to play and improvise in many different genres, my personal favorites being early rock, folk, and old-school country/bluegrass, but I also love teaching just about anything in the rock, country, pop, and jazz genres. I tailor each lesson to where the student is, where they want to be, and how they can be having fun, all the while teaching practical music theory using the songs they want to play.
I’ve had students win awards for their playing and get accepted into music programs throughout the country, but I never try to put expectations on my students. I’m just as happy teaching adults who only want to play around a campfire and kids who are still wondering if this might be their thing, as I am teaching people with more specific goals for themselves. All skill and motivation levels are accepted and encouraged in my studio! My only requirements are that the student wants to be here and that everyone stays kind.

I'm Noah Harmon, and music has been my lifelong passion. From a young age, I found myself immersed in various musical experiences, from singing with the Appleton Boychoir to competing and winning first prize in the World Old Time piano playing competition. I even rocked out with local bands in the jazz and rock scenes.
As a young adult, I pursued my love for music further by enrolling at Lawrence University and earning a degree in piano performance. Since then, I've been gracing venues all across the Fox Valley with my musical talents. Additionally, I've been proudly teaching at Heid Music for over 10 years now.
When I teach, my goal is to ensure my students fully understand how to read music, opening up a world of musical appreciation and performance. From the timeless works of Bach to the catchy tunes of Billy Joel, we'll explore a wide range of musical greats.
But that's not all! I also offer lessons in composition and improvisation because I believe that creativity is an essential part of any musician's journey. So, if you're ready to dive into the world of music and uncover your own unique sound, don't wait any longer—sign up for lessons today.

I am a classically trained flutist and pianist who loves sharing the joy of music with others! I have
been teaching flute and piano for over 12 years. I teach beginning-advanced flute students, and
beginning-intermediate piano students.
One of my favorite things about teaching privately is the opportunity to teach students of all
ages and with a wide variety of interests! I am passionate about meeting you where you are at
and helping you become the musician you want to be! This includes building up your technical
ability, exposing you to even more music in a range of styles, and helping you build a habit of
regular music practice.
Although primarily a classical flutist, I have experience performing and teaching a range of
instruments and styles. I love teaching classical music, but also contemporary chord charts and
lead sheets, as well as improvisation and composition. I am excited to help you learn to play the
music you love best!
I hold a Bachelor of Music in Flute Performance from the Lawrence University Conservatory of
Music, a Master of Arts in Performance Studies from New York University, and a Master of Fine
Arts in Dance from the University of Maryland.
